Manuscript Editing Types

Copy editing – corrections to grammar, style, and word usage. 

Proofreading – minor errors, verb tense, capitalization, punctuation, spelling.

Substantive (developmental) editing – the manuscript is evaluated—problems with structure, organization, and consistency. Suggestions are given to sentences added or deleted.

Time to complete is negotiated.
